Today, you’ll learn how to think outside the box thanks to My First Million.
Why are some people better problem solvers than others? Often, it’s their ability to ask questions that reframe the problem or give them a new perspective. Today, we hear from Shaan Puri as he explores the old adage ‘ask a better question, get a better answer’.
How to think critically
I’m a collector of questions.
I have a swipe file full of them.
I use them to reach a better answer.
Here are some of my favorites:
What would this look like if it were easy?
Am I leaning in to my strengths and unfair advantage as much as I can?
What is the theoretical max I can achieve in this situation?
What are the silly stories I’m telling myself here that are holding me back?

Why it mattersÂ
Asking the right questions is a superpower. They can help you think creatively, but also reveal when you’re overcomplicating things.
This episode has inspired me to start my own swipe file of questions. Here are a few of my favorites that can broaden your perspective:
What if I did the opposite of what’s expected?
How would I approach this if I had unlimited resources?
What would I try now if I weren’t afraid of failure?
If I had to start from scratch, what would I change?
Is this a problem I should be focusing on right now?
